Karoke!

The boys are belting out the tunes, Japan style. In the U.S., karaoke is usually done in front of large groups of people whom you don't know. Not so in Japan! Here, you go with a group of friends or colleagues and rent a small room with a TV monitor and some microphones for a fixed period of time. Concessions are available, sometimes including (very, very weak) free drinks. After you enter the reference number for the song you want to sing using a little remote-control thing, and you're ready to croon away.
