One Centimeter

At our doctor appointment this morning, we learned that I am currently 1 cm dilated! This is normal and doesn't mean much of anything - I could easily stay at 1 cm for another six weeks - but it was a pleasant surprise. :) I've been feeling "stuck" pregnant lately (like I'll be waddling around painfully forever) so it was nice to hear something that means that an end is in sight someday, even if not quite yet. According to the ultrasound, Asparagus is currently about 3090 grams - around 6 lbs. 12 oz. according to Google's conversion. My handy reference book says that babies typically gain a couple more pounds in the last month, so I think it's about time for her to just slow it down. :) We ran into a French friend of mine at the clinic today, however, who just had her baby two weeks ago, and he was around 4000 grams (8 lbs. 12 oz.). It sounds like the nurses thought that such a huge baby was just unbelievable, but at least they'll have a fairly recent foreign frame of reference when Asparagus is born. :)

Do you recall that you were 6 pounds, 13 ounces when you were born? Sounds like any day to me. Love, Dad.

I thought I was somewhere in that neighborhood... and was hoping that she'd stick to that range, too! Any day would be awfully nice...
